Managing Quantity Surveyor - Major Projects

Location: Brisbane

Management Office (PMO) of Boral Australia. This is a senior commercial position managing key commercial, financial and project risk management aspects for Boral Australia Major Projects.  With a direct reporting line to the General Manager – PMO, you will work closely with the Major Projects community in Boral.  The role will have responsibility to ensure strong commercial disciplines and the utilisation of project risk management practices across Australia.

This will be a broad, challenging position that will require personal drive, process orientation and strong analytical skills. You will manage and provide contractual guidance to commercial and operational colleagues, and oversee measurement and preparation of valuations with a view to maximising returns under the provisions of the Contract Conditions and Company procedures.

Based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane the key accountabilities of this role include:

  • Support the measurement and preparation of valuations, whilst monitoring and reporting on the financial performance of contracts including contract valuations;
  • Investigate variation to budget performance the recommend and track improvement actions;
  • Monitor and manage the procurement and control of sub contracts, provide advice and guidance on Contract & Subcontract Terms and Conditions;
  • Provide input to the submission of contractual claims and provision of notices required under the contract;
  • Effective development & coaching of Contract Administration staff;
  • Risk identification and cash flow monitoring to maximise financial and commercial opportunity on all contracts and
  • Ensure good management of all of our supply chain and sub-contract requirements, and focus on value generation.

To be considered for this position, you will possess the below qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Qualified by experience related to industry standards with 10+ years of Quantity Surveying experience;
  • Bsc (Hons) Quantity Surveying or similar construction related degree. Ideally you will be a member of RICS;
  • Proficient knowledge of GC21, Australian Standards and equivalent suites of contract forms;
  • Conditions of contracts / specification requirements/ method of measurements;
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation & regulatory requirements and
  • Proven dispute resolution skills.
