An opportunity exists for a proactive and energetic Health & Safety Business Partner to join our national Health and Safety team, supporting our state of the art Cement facility in Geelong.
Reporting to the Site Manager Geelong for the Cement business and a Head of Business Partnering Health and Safety, your primary focus is to support operational teams, ensuring that business unit level issues are understood, controls are implemented and compliance and assurance measures reviewed. Working closely with the frontline and as part of their team, this is a key role in delivering strong alignment between operational risks and health and safety controls and will enable safety improvements and standardisation of processes across the Cement business.
Operating as a true business partner, you will be based at our Geelong site and engage with site based leaders and employees to really understand their challenges, creating learning opportunities from issues and incidents to enable them to perform more effectively. A central part of this role is to build an intimate understanding of our operations and forge strong and lasting relationships with stakeholders so as to deliver positive safety outcomes.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity and you will be provided with a motor vehicle allowance.
Your day will involve:
Constructively working with and supporting operational leaders on risk management
Building the operational teams collective health and safety capacity by providing specialist health and safety advice, support and coaching
Understanding and managing risk profiles, verifying critical control implementation and identifying and coordinating risk reduction, improvement and assurance activities
Supporting the roll out and implementation of the Boral Health & Safety Strategy including the HSEQ Management System & National Programs
Facilitation and management of incident response and subsequent analysis and learnings
Supporting the operations in appropriate preparation, management and response to HSE Regulatory Compliance inspections, audits, statutory reports and prescribed incident notifications
Maintaining oversight of HSE risk registers and facilitating operational risk assessment/SWMS reviews
Reviewing and validating the management of Contractors in line with the Assurance program.
What are we looking for?
A positive and proactive approach team player with a willingness and commitment to partnering with operational teams
Prior experience in a hands on, operational role will be highly regarded
A curious mind with a willingness to embraces new ideas and different approaches
Proven experience in a similar role within a high-risk environment
Proven experience with implementing successful organisational change within complex environments
Knowledge of WHS regulations, systems, processes and Information Systems is beneficial but not essential
Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety is beneficial but not essential
Superior interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and communication skills with a natural ability to build solid relationships and influence in order to deliver outcomes.
