About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Category Manager Logistics, the Category Lead Logistics will create, lead and deploy national and regional spend and supplier management strategies for our Logistics category which includes cartage, rail freight, road freight, shipping, stevedoring, port services, storage, couriers and local freight. The role leads end-to-end sourcing projects at various levels including supplier identification, cost analysis, tender management, contract negotiations, and final recommendations for contract approval.

Your day will involve:

  • Lead and support logistics category activities across Boral’s vast national logistics network
  • Development and execution of national and regional category strategies and plans which clearly articulate value benefit, change management effort, resource requirement and alignment of priorities with business stakeholders in order to drive performance in this high value and important category.  
  • Development of vendor management frameworks including the analysis of the contracts, supplier landscape, supply and value risk to business and structure key supplier engagement plan, topics and areas to discuss.
  • Interfacing broadly across the Boral business with key internal stakeholders and suppliers, this role engages across the end to end procurement process, advising on procurement best practices, risks, compliance and internal controls on spend portfolio.
  • Lead and contribute to procurement improvement projects.

What are we looking for?

  • A tertiary qualification in Business, Engineering, Law or Finance.
  • Experienced and commercially astute procurement professional, ideally with relevant Logistics category management experience within a large and complex business.
  • Strong analytical skills and competency with analytical tools to interpret information and be able to provide insights/recommendations.
  • Exposure from the logistics, construction, building materials, infrastructure or manufacturing sectors will be highly regarded.
  • Any exposure to managing road, rail or bulk transportation providers will be highly regarded.
