Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Commercial Analyst works closely with team members and business unit leaders to develop, maintain and improve reporting and provide solid financial and operational insights.
It will involve providing analysis on business performance, month-end reporting, capital allocation and reporting, cashflow monitoring and reporting and presentations to senior management, including the Capital Committee. The role will also play a key part in forecasting and budgeting processes, creating input and output templates, data entry into Planning systems and providing insights on overhead costs and labour utilisation within the business.
Your day will involve:
Working closely with a highly energized finance team, including the Head of Finance, Commercial Finance Managers and peer analysts to provide data and analysis to solve critical business issues
Reporting on capital spend, preparing monthly presentation pack to the Capital Committee and reporting on use of cash flow and preparing material for cash flow review meetings
Support the finance team and business stakeholders with data requests
Own monthly actuals & variance reporting, quarterly forecast, and annual budget process for overhead costs in the Segment, labour costs and cartage costs
Carry out finance activities supporting the Segment, including involvement in business case development, network analysis, pricing, reporting and report development, etc.
Promote financial understanding for all key commercial drivers, including market, price, supply vs. demand, costs and projects
Partnering and supporting key stakeholders within Borals VIC, TAS and SA Concrete and Quarries businesses
What are we looking for?
In addition to a strong background in finance, commerce, business or economics, we’re looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills with an eagerness to learn a fast-paced industry.
You will also possess:
A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Commerce, Business, Finance or Economics
3+ years finance experience in planning and analytics
Proven track record in achieving strong financial, investment and performance results
Ability to work with ERP systems such as (Essbase, Hyperion, Oracle) to build budgets and forecasts, and create input and output templates for the submission and retrieval of data
Ability to analyse market data, sales forecasts / forward order books, historical metrics, and other information, and develop and share insights
CA/CPA preferred but not mandatory
