Management Accountant

  • Perth, WA
  • Accountant
  • Permanent - full time

What's on offer

  • Full visibility of a business unit P&L, not one narrow slice of it
  • Report to the Commercial Finance Manager, working alongside the WA General Manager of Quarries
  • A seat at the table with operations, not a back-office reporting role
  • Regular time on site, so you see what drives the cost per tonne
  • A clear path into senior commercial finance roles across our national network

The role

You'll be the finance partner for our WA quarry operations. That means closing the month accurately, then explaining what the result means and what to do about it.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver month-end close, reporting and variance analysis
  • Build budgets, forecasts and rolling cash and volume outlooks
  • Report and interpret the balanced scorecard for the business unit
  • Analyse cost per tonne, production volumes, margin and overheads
  • Value stockpiles and reconcile inventory with operations
  • Prepare capital business cases and track benefits after approval
  • Review maintenance and contractor spend with site leaders
  • Coach quarry and area managers on the numbers they own
  • Strengthen controls, reconciliations and month-end discipline

What we're looking for

  • CA or CPA qualified, or well progressed
  • Three or more years in management or commercial accounting
  • A background in a large, well-established business with many sites and layers
  • Ideally that experience comes from mining, quarrying, construction, manufacturing or similar heavy industry
  • Confident with a major ERP and strong in Excel
  • Able to explain a result plainly to people who don't work in finance
  • Comfortable working across a complex organisation to get answers
  • WA driver's licence and willingness to travel to regional sites
