An opportunity exists for a motivated and energetic individual to carve a career pathway within Boral as Production Superintendent at our Cement grinding and packaging business in Maldon, NSW. Reporting to the Production Manager, this integral role is responsible for establishing production plans and schedules and coordinating the day to day Maldon Works production activities. This role extends to monitoring actual against scheduled production to ensure optimum usage of equipment, raw materials and labour for the timely manufacture of quality cement products to meet customer standards, specifications and delivery expectations at optimum cost.

Your day will involve:

  • Assist the Production Manager to maximise the Maldon Works’ production capacity to meet forecasted volume and mix requirements by planning demand within capacity and material constraints, coordinating and monitoring production activities and taking corrective actions where required to meet production schedules, volumes, mix and quality, prioritising safety at all times.
  • Monitor actual production against scheduled requirements using Lean tools, ensuring the availability and viability of internal resources to meet the Maldon Work’s commercial obligations with respect to delivery of customer orders and projects.
  • Report on key planning and production metrics, continuously monitoring plant utilisation, capacity, technical performance and similar control ratios to ensure they meet planned target levels and takes corrective actions where required, including root cause analysis.
  • Assist in improving plant efficiency performance by actively participating in operational improvement projects.
  • Control and monitor operating costs including overtime, spare parts and transport costs.
  • Schedule servicing and maintenance for plant machinery.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including contractors and rail providers.
  • Lead production team members including coaching and mentoring of direct reports and supervision of contractors.

What are we looking for?

  • Demonstrated industry experience in the Construction, Mining and/or Manufacturing Industry, ideally within Cement manufacturing
  • Tertiary qualifications preferably in Process, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of continuous process industry (heavy machinery, manufacturing) with exposure to SPC, TQM, CI Lean Manufacturing highly regarded.
  • Team player with a strong safety focus and ability to positively influence trust and confidence in working relationships.
  • Demonstrated people leadership ability to develop effective working relationships with all people, and to lead and influence.
