We are seeking an experienced and accountable Terminal Operations Manager to provide strategic leadership across our rail terminal operations in Sydney and the Southern Highlands. This is a senior operational leadership role, responsible for setting direction, driving a strong safety and performance culture, and ensuring consistent standards across multiple sites.

The rail terminal network plays a critical role in Boral’s supply chain. In this role, you will oversee terminal operations operating 24/7 across three sites, ensuring rail movements, people, assets and service providers are managed safely, efficiently and in line with business objectives.

Reporting to the NSW Metro Operations Manager, you will provide leadership to multiple sites with multiple shifts holding both internal teams and external providers accountable, whilst playing a key role in developing high‑performing, engaged teams across the network.

This role will suit a strategic people leader with multi-site operational experience, a demonstrated commitment to safety and a proven track record of building consistent, disciplined and high‑performing operational teams.

Your day will involve: 

• Providing operational and people leadership across multiple terminal sites
• Setting clear expectations and ensuring consistent safety, operational and behavioural standards across all terminals
• Managing and holding external rail service providers and other contractors accountable, including performance, safety and contractual obligations
• Driving a strong, visible safety leadership presence across all sites
• Leading, coaching and developing supervisors and their teams
• Monitoring operational performance, risks and trends across the network and driving continuous improvement
• Overseeing budgets, cost control and operational planning activities
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to align terminal operations with broader business objectives
• Supporting effective issue resolution, escalation and decision‑making across the sites

What are we looking for? 

• Demonstrated success in leading high‑performance operational teams, with a strong focus on safety and culture
• Experience managing external service providers or contractors, including performance and accountability
• Experience in heavy industrial operations such as quarrying/mining/rail etc, ideally across multiple sites
• A strong safety leadership mindset, with the ability to influence behaviours and standards
• High levels of accountability, resilience and strategic thinking
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels of the business
• Well‑developed planning, problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities
• Strong computer literacy and comfort using systems for reporting and performance monitoring
