The Construction Manager will support the delivery of Boral’s St Peters Concrete Batch Plant Project, providing construction & site supervision. Working closely with the contractors’ construction teams and Boral operational teams, the role will assist with the day-to-day management of coordination of construction activities. 

Providing hands on support during day-to-day construction planning and execution, the Construction Manager will support the Senior Project Manager to ensure all works are undertaken safely and to strict compliance and quality standards. This is a delivery focused role suited to an individual comfortable working across construction and operational functions, managing competing priorities, engaging effectively with stakeholders and supporting the Senior Project Manager to ensure safe and efficient project outcomes. This is a 17 month fixed term contract based on site at St Peters, Sydney. 

Your day will involve:

  • Construction Coordination
    • Day to day work coordination of construction crews, subcontractors and tradespeople, including site inductions, pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and completion of permits.
    • Coordinate project activities to align with project schedules to ensure timely completion of each construction phase.
    • Resolve site-related issues and conflicts promptly to prevent delays and maintain workflow continuity and/or escalate issues to the Senior Project Manager.
  • Collaboration
    • Liaise with contractors’ site managers to promote collaboration and coordinate trade activities, as well as workforce allocation, and material deliveries to support efficient project execution and minimise operational impact.
    • Liaise with Boral stakeholders (Operations, Environmental Managers and Safety Managers) to address concerns and provide updates.
    • Liaise with Boral’s Engineering team and Design Consultants to resolve Requests For Information, design errors and/or omissions.
  • Reporting
    • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and resolve issues and/or delays.
    • Monitor and provide regular construction progress reports (site diary) and updates throughout the construction process.
  • Quality & Safety
    • Ensuring the completion of Inspection & Test Plans to compliance with design specifications and quality standards, and work with Boral’s Site Safety Manager and Environmental Manager to ensure compliance with all Boral’s safety management system & environmental requirements to maintain a safe and secure worksite.

What are we looking for?

  • Trade qualifications supported by significant and relevant industry experience.
  • NSW General Construction Induction (White) Card.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering engineering or construction projects within heavy industry, mining, manufacturing or related sectors.
  • Working knowledge of WHS Codes of Practice and legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating managing contractors and supporting project delivery from construction through to commissioning.
