An opportunity exists for a proactive and passionate Health & Safety Business Partner to join our national Health and Safety team to specifically support our significant Concrete Plant Capital Project at St Peters.

The Health & Safety Business Partner provides expert HSEQ and technical guidance across all phases of construction and demolition work, supporting safe, compliant and efficient project delivery. This critical role works closely with project teams to identify and manage risks, monitor controls, and ensure adherence to HSEQ systems, legislation, and organisational standards. Embedding HSEQ considerations into project planning and decision making, this individual will build team capability through training, monitor activities and lead investigations as required. This is a 17 month fixed term role and will be based at our St Peters site in NSW.

Your day will involve: 

  • Provide HSEQ advice and technical expertise across all project phases, supporting planning and decision-making to achieve safe, compliant, and efficient project outcomes.
  • Maintain and monitor Project Risk Registers, working with other stakeholders to ensure risks are regularly reviewed, updated and accurately reflect the current risk profile of the project.
  • Identify, assess, and manage critical risks, facilitate high-risk workshops, and ensure risk controls are implemented, monitored, and effective.
  • Review, update, and monitor the Project WHS Management Plan (WHSMP), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), work permits, and other HSEQ documentation for compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver HSEQ training, toolbox talks, inductions, and competency verifications to ensure all workers are trained, licensed, and competent for their assigned work.
  • Facilitate HSEQ consultation and communication with workers, contractors, and stakeholders, through pre-starts, toolbox talks, meetings etc., capturing and considering feedback, and communicating outcomes.
  • Conduct site inspections, safety walks, and audits to observe work practices, evaluate effectiveness of controls, identify hazards, track contractor performance and evaluate compliance to HSEQ systems of work.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported and lead investigations.
  • Measure, monitor and analyse data derived from monitoring activities and incident investigations to identify trends and ensure appropriate preventative actions are taken to address identified opportunities for improvement.

What are we looking for? 

  • Demonstrated health and safety experience in construction, civil, or infrastructure projects, including exposure to demolition works.
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety and Construction White Card.
  • Proven experience providing HSEQ advice and technical guidance across all project phases.
  • Hands -on experience identifying, assessing and controlling risks and leading incident investigations.
  • Sound knowledge of WHS Legislation and HSEQ systems.
  • Experience delivering HSEQ training, toolbox talks and coaching project teams and contractors.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, safety walks, audits and monitoring the effectiveness of controls.
