Your next opportunity:
Based in Berrima and reporting to the Senior Maintenance Engineer, we are seeking an experienced mechanical trade‑qualified professional to join our Cement Plant Maintenance team. This role is responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities across a wide range of fixed plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
This is a hands‑on, full‑time permanent role suited to a trade‑qualified Mechanical Fitter with strong mechanical aptitude and experience in heavy industrial environments. The successful candidate must have flexibility to work across a 7‑day rotating roster, including shutdown periods.
What you will do:
- Maintain and repair mechanical systems including conveyors, crushers, mills, kilns, fans, gearboxes, pumps, and hydraulic systems
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, fault finding, and breakdown repairs on fixed plant equipment
- Execute maintenance work in accordance with approved maintenance plans, procedures, and engineering standards
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with production and electrical teams
- Identify, report, and assist in rectifying equipment defects, safety hazards, and improvement opportunities
- Participate in shutdown maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives
What we are looking for:
- Mechanical trade qualification (minimum Cert III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade)
- Proven experience in fixed plant maintenance, preferably within cement, mining, quarrying, or heavy manufacturing environments
- Strong fault‑finding and mechanical troubleshooting capability
- Knowledge of maintenance work plans, procedures, and scheduling systems
- Working knowledge of plant operations, material handling systems, products, and processes (desirable)
- High commitment to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards
- Exposure to OHSE and Quality policies and systems
- Willingness to work a flexible 7‑day roster and participate in shutdown work
Licences and Permits (advantageous):
- Forklift licence
- Overhead crane
- EWP
- Working at Heights
