We are seeking a safety-focused and experienced Senior Laboratory Technician to join our Concrete & Quarries Laboratory team based in Baulkham Hills, NSW.
Reporting directly to the relevant Section Head and indirectly to the Laboratory Manager, you will play a key role in delivering accurate testing and analysis of construction materials. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will undertake sampling, sample preparation, testing, reporting, and laboratory quality assurance activities to support our operations and customers.
 
Your day will involve
  • Conducting testing of quarry and recycled materials in accordance with laboratory work instructions, Australian Standards (AS), and Transport for NSW (formerly RMS) test methods.
  • Preparing and analysing test samples and accurately reporting test results.
  • Performing scheduled calibrations, maintenance, and operational checks of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintaining laboratory records and documentation in line with quality management requirements.
  • Supporting and maintaining NATA accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
  • Actively participating in and promoting safe work practices and statutory safety requirements.
  • Assisting with other laboratory duties as required by the Section Head and Laboratory Manager.
What are we looking for?
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Previous experience in concrete testing, with a sound understanding of AS 1012 test methods.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Science, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline (desirable but not essential).
  • Sound computer literacy and experience using laboratory information management systems such as QestLab or similar.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of Australian and industry testing standards.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • A customer-focused approach with strong communication skills.
